Today we discuss How To Start A Scooter With A Screwdriver. Scooters are a great way to get around, and they’re an even better way to save money on gas. Unfortunately, most scooters require a keychain or the like to start the engine. If you don’t have any of those things handy, it can be frustrating not being able to start your scooter. But don’t worry!
Locate the gas cap
The first step is to locate the gas cap. You should be able to see it under the seat.
- Locate the gas cap
- Turn the screwdriver to open the gas cap
- Remove the gas cap
- Turning on the Scooter
- Open your fuel tank filler pipe
- Attach a hose to the gas tank opening and fill it with gasoline
- How To Start A Scooter With A Screwdriver
- Detach the hose from the fuel tank opening
- Insert a match or lighter into your engine’s exhaust pipe.
- Final words:
Turn the screwdriver to open the gas cap
If you’re lucky, the gas cap will be on the screwdriver, but if not, you’ll need to find something to open it with. The first thing you should try is a pair of pliers. If that doesn’t work, some people even use their teeth to flip open the cap.
Once you’ve done this, give the key a twist and turn it towards the right side of your body. Make sure it’s in a position where you can easily push down on it with your thumb.
You’re just about ready to go! Rotate the metal rod sticking out from under your scooter 180 degrees so that it connects with the metal plate on top of your scooter. Put pressure on one side of the rod with your foot and do the same for the other side by pushing down on the handlebars. These movements should hopefully start up your scooter!
Remove the gas cap
The first step to starting a scooter with a screwdriver is removing the gas cap. This should make it easier for you to turn the engine over.
Once you remove the gas cap, take a look at the underside of it as well as the part where the fuel filler tube plugs in. If there is any dirt or grime, give those areas a good wipe down. The last thing you want is dirty gasoline entering your engine and causing problems later on.
Turning on the Scooter
First, you’ll need to locate the battery. It’s typically in front of the scooter.
Next, unscrew the black cap on top of the battery. This will allow you to get access to the connections inside of it.
Once you have access, make sure that your screwdriver blade is long enough to reach both connections at once. You’ll want to use a screwdriver with a flat head and not a Phillips head for this step.
Next, connect the wires from your screwdriver by touching them together for about three seconds. This will cause electricity from one end of the wire to flow into another wire. Depending on how old your scooter is, it can take anywhere from 15 seconds all the way up to five minutes for your scooter to start up again after this process is complete.
Open your fuel tank filler pipe
Some older models don’t have this safety feature, so you can skip this step if your scooter is from before 2011.
Attach a hose to the gas tank opening and fill it with gasoline
To start your scooter, you’ll need to attach a hose to the gas tank opening and fill it up with gasoline. Once done, tighten the hose’s nozzle. You’ll also want to make sure that the other end of the hose is pointed in an upward direction.
How To Start A Scooter With A Screwdriver
The first thing you’ll need is a screwdriver. This is going to be your lever, and it’s going to be used to push down on the carburetor.
Start by taking the screwdriver and placing it over the carburetor so it is positioned at the top of the small hole. Then, push down with as much force as possible.
You should hear a hissing sound as gas starts filling up in the chamber underneath your scooter. You’ll also see your headlight turn on! If you’re still having trouble, try adjusting the position of your screwdriver so that it can reach more of the surface area of the throttle plate.
Detach the hose from the fuel tank opening
First, you’ll need to detach the hose from the fuel tank opening. If your scooter has a fuel cap, you’ll likely find this at the bottom of the fuel tank opening. If not, it’s probably in one of the compartments on your scooter.
Next, unscrew the nut on the top of the fuel line with a screwdriver or wrench. You may have to peel off some layers of tape if your scooter has been sitting for a while.
Now that you’ve removed the nut, just remove it from its position and set aside. Make sure not to lose any pieces!
Finally, take off any excess pieces of tape or adhesive that might be holding the hose in place. Make sure all screws are tightened so they don’t come loose mid-ride!
Insert a match or lighter into your engine’s exhaust pipe.
One of the most common places for a scooter to store its keychain is in the engine’s exhaust pipe. Look for the little hole in the pipe and insert your match or lighter into it. Make sure to be careful when doing this; you don’t want to burn yourself!
With the match or lighter inserted into the hole, take a long screwdriver and start turning it until you hear a noise coming from your engine. This will start up your scooter and you’ll be able to ride off into the sunset. The only downside? You might need to replace your screwdriver after this process.
