Scooters are commonly seen in urban areas but if you don’t have the license yet, you should get one before you are allowed to ride one.
The law requires anyone riding on public streets to have either a valid motorized vehicle driver’s license or a permit. These permits can be obtained at the regional transportation commission office. In New York City, this office is called the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
